The Vivo V50E 5G is a smartphone with an attractive design and a great display, but the processor used in it does not justify its price. Battery life is good and the cameras are fine for everyday use.

Can the chipset of a smartphone be ignored for its looks and camera? This question kept me thinking after starting the review of Vivo V50e 5G. The design of the phone is really great. It justifies its price as soon as you hold it in your hand. This series of Vivo is known for its camera performance. However, as I used it,

the question in my mind deepened. Some aspects of Vivo V50e 5G impress a lot, while in some cases it seems average. In such a situation, who is this phone for? I will try to answer this question in my review. Before the review, let us tell you that the starting variant of the phone with 8GB + 128GB is available for Rs 28,999 and the price of 8GB + 256GB variant is Rs 30,999.

Unboxing, in-hand feel and build quality

All Vivo phones take care of the basic needs of the customers. Not only the cable and charger but a transparent TPU cover and screen protector are also provided with the phone. This saves the buyer from immediately spending on a cover or screen protector to protect the screen from scratches etc. The in-hand feel of the phone is solid. There are only a few smartphones in the market for which the words ‘beautiful’ or ‘gorgeous’ can be used. Vivo V50e is one of those smartphones. The design and look of this phone will be liked by most people.

The phone feels very slim in the hand, which increases its premiumness. You will get to see plastic build in it, despite this Vivo V50e is not only stylish in appearance but also strong. Its IP68/IP69 rating is proof of this. It makes the phone safe from water and dust damage.

Vivo V50e 5G Display

The display of the Vivo V50e is the strong point of the phone and is full of features. The first thing that catches the attention of the screen is its vibrant color output. In this, you will get a 6.77-inch HDR10 + Amoled display. It supports a refresh rate of 120Hz as well as Widevine L1 on Netflix. This means that if you are fond of watching videos or web series on the phone, then you will be able to watch videos in high picture quality on Youtube to Netflix apps.

Also, the quad curve display increases the enjoyment of watching content manifold as the bezels of the phone are hardly visible to you. The display of Vivo V50e comes with a peak brightness of 1800 nits. With this, you will be able to use the phone easily even in sunlight.

Performance and Software

The Vivo V50e has a Mediatek Dimensity 7300 chipset. This is a processor built on 4 nanometer technology. In terms of processor, I found this smartphone to be average. This pushes it into the category of an overpriced phone. This processor was used by Vivo in its Vivo T4X, whose starting variant comes for less than 15 thousand. The base model of Vivo V50e is available for almost double this price (Rs 28,999). Vivo also used this chipset in V40e. This chipset is fine for normal usage and light gaming and if given in a smartphone under 15000, it seems fine. It is not made for heavy tasks and gaming.

My experience with the phone’s software was mixed. It is packed with Funtouch OS 15 running on Android 15. There is still room for improvement in Funtouch OS. Like most Vivo smartphones that come with Funtouch OS 15, it also has a lot of bloatware. Apart from this, the suggestions of hot games and apps also appeared as they are. It took me about half an hour to an hour to make the phone suitable for me (without bloatware and useless ads etc.). After this, the phone was fine in normal use. However, I saw lag in the phone while multitasking.

Camera performance of Vivo V50e

The camera of Vivo V50e is good for those who want to take pictures for daily photography and social media. It has a 50MP main camera on the back side, which supports OIS (optical image stabilization). This gives clear pictures even when the hand shakes while clicking the photo. The phone also has an 8MP ultra-wide camera. I found its results to be average.

Photos taken during the day with the phone look good and the details are also good. However, when you zoom in on the photos, the details seem to be lacking. Similarly, photos taken with the ultra-wide lens also look a bit blurry at the edges.

Vivo V50e has a 50MP selfie camera. Vivo phones are known for their selfies and this phone also does a great job in terms of selfies. Selfies come out quite detailed in good light. However, sometimes it makes the background too white. To take a photo in portrait mode in smartphones with Funtouch OS, after going into that mode, the mode has to be activated through the option visible on the screen. The selfie camera also works well in portrait mode.

With this phone, you will be able to shoot 4k videos at 30fps. Its results also appeared average. Overall, the camera of Vivo V50e is fine for daily use, but if you are a content creator or want photos and videos with details, then this phone is not for you.

Battery performance of Vivo V50e

The Vivo V50e has a 5500mah battery and its backup impressed me a lot. Even if you use the phone a lot, it will easily give you a day’s backup. I got 3 days of backup and 7 hours of screen on time with this phone on medium usage. Which was really good. With this phone, you get a 90W charger in the box itself. With the help of this charger, the Vivo V50e smartphone was charged from 0 to 53% in 30 minutes. It took about 40 minutes for the phone to charge up to 100%.

Our Verdic

In my review, I found that this phone is for those who want a phone with long battery, good display, decent cameras and stylish design. This phone is not for those who do heavy gaming or multitasking. I did not like the use of an old processor in the phone and it does not justify the price of Rs 30,000.

However, if you are a normal user and want a stylish and sleek phone, then go for it. I would give it 3 stars out of 5. 2 stars would be deducted for the old chipset, a lot of bloatware and an average ultra wide camera.
